É, actualmente, Professor Associado no Centre for Dance Research, Coventry University.

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP

Rethinking Choreography  with Jonathan Burrows and Bojana Cvejić.

Forum Dança, the 26th and 27th of May, from 11h to 17h

Price 60 eur. maximum 20 participants

The workshop is for anybody interested in dance and performance at a professional level.

Abstract: Choreographer Jonathan Burrows and theorist Bojana Cvejić lead a two-day workshop sharing ongoing research into choreography as a manifestation of neuroscientific and cognitive discoveries linking sequenced movement and perception. The work challenges the tradition of thinking choreography as the capacity and practice of structuring movement, time and behavior. Instead, this research investigates choreography as an integral part of fundamental cognitive processes of mapping, remembering and anticipating movement in the body/brain environment.

Jonathan Burrows is a choreographer whose main focus is a long collaboration with the composer Matteo Fargion. He is the author of A Choreographer’s Handbook (Routledge 2010/24) and Writing Dance (Varamo 2022) and is currently an Associate Professor at the Centre for Dance Research, Coventry University.

Bojana Cvejić is a dramaturge who has worked closely with a number of leading dance artists, including Mette Ingvartsen, Xavier le Roy and Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker (with whom she co-wrote A Choreographer’s Score, 2019). She is the author of Choreographing Problems (Springer, 2016) and Towards a Trans-Individual Self (co-written with Ana Vuyanović, 2022). Bojana is a Professor of Dance and Dance Theory at KHIO Oslo National Academy of Arts, a faculty member for theory at P.A.R.T.S Brussels and a Guest Professor at the Centre for Dance Research, Coventry University.
