The WellApp project explores and challenges the socio-cultural trend of the meanings of well-being, self-care and balance in contemporary life that emerge in digital spaces mediated by applications.
Based on platform studies, a mixed methodology is used to analyze dynamics and practices that reflect whether wellness management is shaped or driven by the growing supply and adoption of apps, moving towards a platformization of health.
WellApp is a project hosted by NOVA University Lisbon and supported by the iNOVA Media Lab.
It is funded as part of a project grant (ICNOVA/UIDB/004/2022/WellApp) under the auspices of the research unit Instituto de Comunicação da NOVA (ICNOVA).
