Presentation
How can arts, culture and technology regenerate our cities? To start with, by occupying spaces that have been left vacant and abandoned, creating public value, through knowledge, creativity and innovation. But also by studying new participatory futures. These are some of the premises of the European research consortium T-Factor (Horizon 2020), which NOVA University of Lisbon has joined as a Portuguese partner.
T-Factor works with various regeneration initiatives in Europe and beyond, by developing an international platform for support and exchange of knowledge. The Portuguese pilot, with which NOVA University of Lisbon is associated, relates to the conversion of the Trafaria prison into the Institute of Art and Technology (NOVA IAT). The initiative has brought together the Faculty of Science and Technology (NOVA FCT) and the School of Social Sciences and Humanities (NOVA FCSH) to foster greater collaboration and research in arts and technology.
Conducted within the framework of the European project T-Factor, the local Portuguese project includes several proposals and multiple missions for “meanwhile” uses and activities that can make a positive contribution to the future NOVA IAT as well as to the extremely fragile communities who are at serious risk of gentrification and disappearance.

Mission 3
Improve Trafaria as a place, by facilitating development and access to new services and opportunities in the area, increasing the general attractiveness and improving the external and self-perception of Trafaria.
