In the context of the launch of his new book, Paulo Victor Melo (ICNOVA) will give an open lecture on “Surveillance Culture, Algorithms and Race Relations”, covering topics such as hyper-surveillance of public spaces, the racial implications of facial recognition technologies and algorithmic racism. The book “Artificial Intelligence and Algorithms: challenges and opportunities for the media”, co-organized with Adriana Gonçalves and Luísa Torre, is available in open access here.
