Born Portuguese, Ruy Guerra and Ruy Duarte de Carvalho chose to be of the world. This ebook is launched to celebrate Ruy Guerra’s 90th birthday and Ruy Duarte’s 80th, and is a tribute to their intense and profound work. The book includes canonical articles, essays and interviews by various specialists in the work of the filmmakers, who explore the unruly heritage of both, using the camera, writing and the spoken word to make life an unsubmissive gesture and an ethical commitment.
